Virgil Ray Combs, 81, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away June 28, 2015. Mr. Combs was born October 9, 1933 in Zellwood, FL. He worked as a Paper Carrier for the Newspaper. Mr. Combs is survived by his loving son John Combs of Casselberry, FL; daughter Valerie Jones of Perkasie, PA; brother Dan Combs of Zellwood, FL; sisters Juanita Jenkins of Largo, FL, Joyce Hraygil of St. Petersburg, FL, Mary Clark of Orlando, FL; grandchildren James and Anna Combs of Casselberry, FL, Jeff Jones of New Port Richey, FL and Jason and Brian Jones of Pennsylvania.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
