Bonnie Lawton-Biss passed from this life into Heavenly life on March 27, 2015. She was born on October 23, 1942 in Bangor, Maine and was the daughter of Warren and Arlene Brown. Bonnie’s father, “Brownie” as he was known in town, was a well know police officer in Bangor, and Bonnie grew up knowing a great deal of people in the city. After graduating from Bangor High School, Bonnie and her first husband Gary moved to Orlando, Florida where she became a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Bonnie was a member of the sorority for over 10 years, and also served a term as the sorority president. After being a stay at home mom when her children were small, Bonnie went to work as a teacher’s aide for the Orange County School System, and retired from Mid-Florida Tech where she worked for over 20 years. Bonnie loved to travel and had visited England, Spain, Mexico, Japan, Australia and Hawaii. She was passionate about reading and delighted in watching reality television. In recent years, Bonnie had lived in Clermont and was always so amazed that there were actually hills in Central Florida. She and her husband Doug loved going for long car rides, and exploring unknown roads. Bonnie’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and she was extremely proud of her older grandchildren’s academic successes, and her youngest grandchild’s theater accomplishments. Bonnie was fiercely protective of her family and was a kind and funny lady, who will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband Doug Biss, sister Peggy Brown, children Kellie and Kevin Lawton, grandchildren Lauren, Ryan and Ryleigh Lawton, nephew Kyle Brown and several cousins. A Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will take place on Sunday, June 14 at 5 pm. Location is Tanner Hall, 29 West Garden Avenue, Winter Garden, Florida, 34747.
