Deep heartfelt condolences to family and friends of Jerry. I would proudly stand vigilant, and with honor, with the family, friends, and associates, of this honorable man. Honor and pride to those that stood where few would dare tread, to those who would sacrifice all that another might live in liberty, justice, and freedom. Might all who knew this honorable friend profess it proudly… and might those who have not been so honored as to know such individuals be blessed by doing so. I was out of state when this occurred and was shocked to receive the news. I remember the school years, I remember the weekends by the bon-fires. I remember "Surfing" through the orange groves. I remember the good times… and the sad, Jerry was good people… I will sorely miss him. My most sincere condolences to you Linda, the kids and the grands. As well, to you his sisters… he once again watches over you as he did when we were "kids".

When I think of Jerry I think of so many of my childhood memories that included fishing, hunting, family/friend get-togethers, MANY laughs, and one that really stands out was going to the Country Bow Jamboree in Inverness with Dad, Jerry, and Tonya. When I was growing up and even into my late teen years if the phone rang and I answered the first question was " Julie, do you know who this is?" and I did but I always loved hearing him say " It's your Uncle Cod or Uncle Jerry #2".. Even though life got Very busy and we lost contact over the years I know that I could have ran into him at anytime and he would have treated me like no time had passed at all. I sit hear saddened that you are gone but so blessed that you were a part of my life. Sending love & prayers to Linda, Tonya, Sondra, Jolynda and the rest of the Sawyer family . Thank you for all the wonderful memories

Uncle Jerry was the funniest uncle ever. He was an awesome dad and husband. Uncle jerry was always there for his kids and a great provider for his family. I didn't get to grow up around him but when I was a kid going to Aunt Linda's and Uncle Jerry's was always a treat because he would goof off with us and have us laughing. RIP Uncle Jerry-i know you are gonna be a treat to everyone in heaven.

I love all of you and I am here if I can do anything. RIP Jerry "Vern" SawyerThe battle is over, the victory's won, I share the presence of God’s own dear Son.Mom and Dad I’ll see once more restoredto full health on heaven’s bright shore. My friends and my family who long have been therewill show me around in that city so fair.I’ll live in my mansion that Jesus has blessedand invite the Archangel to come be my guest. So please don’t weep, please don’t mourn, this is the best day since the day I was born.Be ready to follow when your life grows dim, I’ll meet you in heaven where we’ll dwell with Him.So, when I die … celebrate… for I have entered heaven’s gate.

Linda and family, Jean and I are so sorry for you and the family lost. Jerry was my best friend. We went to school together, worked for years together, fished together and hunted together. The last few years we have been apart. Cod was the hardest working guy Ive ever known. He taught me a lot as to iron working, welding and hunting. Jerry had a heart of gold. We had so many great times together. I talked to Tonya the other day and she said Jerry was her Superman, believe me he was a lot of peoples Superman. Jean and I were crazy about him, he would be at our house and was always a perfect gentleman. My daughters, Julie and Jamie remember him always saying to them that he was uncle Jerry. I have lost my best friend. Love you and the family. Jerry we love you. Jim and Jean Jackson and family.
