Margaret L. Davis, 96, of Apopka, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014. She was born August 09, 1918 in Pensacola, Florida and moved to Central Florida 79 years ago from Alabama. She was a Nursery Worker. Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, Dorothy “Dottie” Kelly, Michael Davis, Tom Davis, Gayle Smith, Lamar Davis and Norma Smithers; sister, Thurza Harris; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 41 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
