Ralph Frederick Getty, age 88, of Zellwood, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014. He was born in Bloomsburg, PA on June 20, 1925 to Minnie and William Getty. Mr. Getty served in the US Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the American Legion. Mr. Getty is survived by his loving daughter, Joan Gray; son-in-law, Terry Gray; and extended family members, Brenda Conner, Lee Taylor, and Trilby Updike.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
