Daphne M. McConnell, age 81, of Orlando, passed away on Saturday, February 08, 2014. She was born on February 12, 1932 in Redding, England. Mrs. McConnell moved to the Central Florida area 47 years ago from Oklahoma City, OK. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. Mrs. McConnell is survived by her loving children, Barry McConnell, Susan Hendrix, Patrick McConnell, and Michael McConnell; and seven grandchildren.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.

Mrs. McConnell was one of the most thoughtful people I've ever had the pleasure to know. I would come home from work late at night to find a hot meal cooked and packaged up by Mrs. McConnell waiting for me on my front porch. When I was in California on family business, I met Mrs. McConnell for lunch overlooking the surf at La Jolla. My deepest condolences to Susan, Barry, Patrick, and Michael.
