I loved Dr. H…..when I worked with him at Kewanee Hospital he always had a great smile and a wonderful laugh that could lighten any situation. He and Dr. C were great to work with. I feel very privileged to have worked at the hospital during a time when patients were able to stay until they were ready to go home. A time when we all were friends and neighbors. Thanks Dr. Lopez for being a wonderful part of Kewanee, and taking care of so many of our Kewanee residents. Rest in Peace my friend. Robin O'Connor, Social Worker

Dear Dr. Cecilia, Lito, Alex, Tom, Neil and all of your families, I was so sad when I heard the news of Dr. H's death. I have so many fond memories of all of us working together from early on. As Dr. H. would say: "We all grew up together", which we did. Dr. H. was an excellent physician, mentor and teacher. He not only taught many classes for EMS personnel, but actually helped to put Kewanee on the map in the world of Emergency Medical Services with many of the programs that were initiated at Kewanee Hospital during our time of working there. We actually became a traveling team of trauma and EMS educators throughout Illinois I was so happy to see him and work with him again during the time I worked in the Emergency Room at Illini Hospital. He will truly be missed by many. My sympathy and prayers are with all of you.Mary McIntire

I am very sorry for the loss of your loved one. Dealing with death is never easy, but there is hope. The Bible teaches that our loving God Jehovah, "…will wipe out every tear from (our) eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore…" May your family find true comfort at this time of distress. -Psalms 34:18. One of my first memories of meeting Dr. H was when my mother's friend was dying, and he commented "Come to see her often because her time is short". I thought "What a compassionate and caring doctor"! I'm sure many of his patients thought of him in the same way. Feel privileged to say that he was truly a good friend and considered part of our family after Eileen and Lito were married. He will be missed. He is in our prayers as well as all of his family.Gene and Marilyn

I was saddened when I heard the news today. I am thankful that I got to know Hipolito. He was first a teacher for me as an EMT, and then a mentor. He passed on his love of medicine to me, and his passion for emergency care. I always considered him a role model, and he is in large part responsible for my decision to become an emergency physician. I know that my life is better for having met you, and I thank you for this. May you rest in peace. My condolences to Cecilia and family.Randy Thompson (Shirley Kelly's son from Galva)Currently living in Billings Montana.

Sending my sympathy to you Cecilia and your family at this sad time. I have thought of you often throughout the years. And just a couple weeks ago was checking in the Quad-Cities to see where Doc was. Was told he had retired. Remembering how my Bob went with Doc to get his plane and the times they flew out to see and pick up the boys at West Point. My Blessings to you at this time. I live now in Bonita Springs, FL. but I am still here in Galva this year in all this terrible cold and snow. Rest In Peace, my friend! Cherie Overbaugh
