Catherine Estelle Rice, age 81, of Orlando, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014. She was born on March 20, 1932 in Baltimore, MD to Frank and Ella Burns. Mrs. Rice moved to the Central Florida area 34 years ago from West Virginia. She was a Lutheran and worked in the auto auction industry.
Mrs. Rice is survived by her loving daughters, Leslie Smith, Stacey Rice, and Deborah Fortney; sister, Maxine Murray; five grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Rice will be held in Maryland. Services entrusted to LOOMIS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, www.loomisfuneralhomes.com.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
