Jorge A. Torres, age 80, of Apopka, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013. Born on October 14, 1933 in Cuenca, Ecuador, he moved to the Central Florida area forty years ago from New York. Mr. Torres was a Catholic and worked as a mechanic.
Mr. Torres is survived by his loving wife, Libia Torres; children, George Torres, Maria Engenia Torres, Marie Susanna Carle, and Joseph Torres; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
