Ethel Eloise Odom, age 89, of Apopka, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013. She was born on October 19, 1924 in Holden, WV. Mrs. Odom was a member of First United Methodist Church of Apopka and a devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Columbus Odom.
Mrs. Odom is survived by her children, Lois Lee (Jerry) Johnson, David D. (Nadine) Odom, Carol (Joe) Sharpe, Robert (Carmen) Odom, and James Odom; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Comforter 480 West Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
