There is a song called “Candle in the Wind” that was written for a beautiful young women who left this world way before her time. I would also like to dedicate that beautiful song to Arlinda who also left her mark amongst so many who’s lives were brightened by her demeanor and captivating smile. ” Now you belong in heaven and the stars spell out your name”. The love and dedication that she had for her sons were reflected in her sparkling eyes and mirthful laugh. We will miss you. “You candles burned out long before your legend ever will”. Rest in peace dear one.

I moved into Linda’s School district the summer before our senior year. I was struggling to make friends. Linda had just lost her sister and I really needed a friend. Then God led me to Linda. Linda was the kindest, sweetest, and most loving person I met at the school that year. We ended up being best friends and thanks to her I did not quit school to stay home and homeschool as I had requested of my mother initially. I eventually went out on a group date in late Feb. with Linda, her boyfriend at the time, and a boy named Mike that she convinced me to take with us to dinner and a movie. That boy has now been my husband for almost 18 years. We have three beautiful children and live and extremely blessed life. I give my condolences to her entire family at this time. To her mother, I thank you for raising such a wonderful lady. She ended up playing a big role in setting the events of my life in motion. We lost touch shortly after graduation in 1995. I regret not telling her how much she meant to me back then. I guess I thought I had plenty of time to eventually locate her and talk with her. I know now more than ever to tell the ones I love how much they mean to me. Please know that I will be praying for Linda’s son’s often as they grow up. They may never meet me, but I will certainly pray God’s richest blessings on their lives. Love and prayers to you all. May God grant you peace and healing that can only come through Him.

I am not sure why Linda is on my heart this evening, but I wanted to share what a wonderful person she was that has not been forgotten. Linda has been gone eight years and I still remember her vivid smile. I think back to high school and how much she meant to me as a friend. I hope that her family is thriving, especially her kids. God bless you all.
