Edna was born and raised in New York City. Her parents Madeline and Joseph Cunningham raised Edna and her 8 siblings in the Yorkville section of the city. It was there that she met and married the love of her life Jerry D’Anneo and they were married from 1942 until his death in 1983.
After they first married, they lived in the Bronx for several years, and then moved to Huntington Station Long Island where they raised their two children Judi and Jerry. While living there Edna worked for Computer Devices as an assembler. Even though she had a full time job, she always had time for family and friends. Her parents and most of her brothers and sisters also moved to Huntington so there was a very large extended family around with parties and get-togethers all the time.
When her daughter Judi moved to Florida, she decided to follow. She lived in Altamonte Springs with her loving companion Donald Gerlach. Upon his death, and after several medical problems she moved to Brookdale at Wekiwa and remained there until her death.
Edna leaves behind her son Jerry (Jeanette), h er daughter Judi Carroll (Bill), her grandchildren Bill, Tracy, peter and Brian. She also had 4 great grandchildren Ryan, Nathan, Cole and Chloe. She is also survived by her siblings Raymond, Dottie and Alice. She is pre-deceased by her other siblings Margie, Ann, Tommy, Joe and James.
Edna will be interred at a later date in St. Charles Cemetery Farmingdale N.Y. in the same space as her beloved Jerry. She is loved and missed by all who knew her.

Dear Judi, Jerry and all who loved Edna. She became my friend back in 2010 when my mother was a resident at Emeritus. I became a volunteer whose regular Wednesday routine involved assisting with morning activities and calling bingo in the afternoon. Edna was a regular bingo player and had “her” spot at the end of one table. She was delightful! She showed her sense of humor, her compassion, her love of family and her appreciation for the assistance she received. She NEVER complained but simply explained what the latest health challenge was. I missed her when she was no longer able to play bingo but did see her laboring to keep moving. She never quit trying to live and do what she could each day. She was strong of will and a good soul. I hope I have the same grit as Edna when I am her age. I will miss her, very much. Please accept my sympathy on the passing of this wonderful lady.

Thank you Lynn for your kind words. She loved her bingo and missed playing so much. Even after she could no longer see to play she still held onto her chips “just in case”. I thank you for being so toughtful and for helping make her stay there a little easier. She considered everyone there part of her family. She always called you “that nice lady who calls bingo”. I appreciate it alot. Thank you. On

Jerry and I were so sorry to learn of Edna’s passing. She was a wonderful and caring woman who will be sorely missed. Although we didn’t get to see much of her in the past number of years, it was good to know she was always there. She loved you all so much and was so proud of you, and I was so fortunate to have had her as my stepmother.
