Sue Ellen Jones, our beloved Wife, Mother, and Neenie, went to be with her Lord on December 19, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with COVID.
Born on April 24, 1950 in Apopka, Florida to Edwin and Mary (Robinson) Fly she grew up enjoying horseback riding, singing, performing, and spending time with friends. On November 6, 1976 she married John Jones and together they raised three daughters Julie, Ashley, and Jenna. She was a devoted and loving mother who made a priority out of field trips, softball games, cheerleading competitions, and birthday parties. She made a point of being involved with her kids’ schools and never missed a function in which they were involved.
With her husband she owned and operated Crestview Foliage Inc. in Zellwood, Florida. She was proud to have built a successful business that led to many treasured friendships along the way. While not working in the nursery, she spent her free time playing tennis, singing in the Ranch Hand Band, cheering for the Gators, watching NASCAR races and taking trips to the beach.
After selling their business, Sue Ellen and John retired to Oak Hill, Florida. They spent their time traveling to visit their daughters and grandkids, Laurel, Hayden, Timothy, Aria, and Radley. When home, she enjoyed fishing on the river with John and outings with her lifelong friends. She cherished those times when family would visit. Spending time at the beach with her grandkids was a prized activity. Always the animal lover she enjoyed volunteering with the organization Farmhouse-Cats and leaves behind her own faithful feline Soot as well as many birds, squirrels, and strays (Tebow, Romeo, and Mia) for which she always provided a substantial meal.
A faithful Christian throughout her life she left this world in peace with no fear.
“To the old rugged cross I will ever be true
It’s shame and reproach gladly bear
Then He will call me some day to my home far away
Where His glory forever I’ll share”
In light of the crisis facing our nation at this time, the family is weighing options for a memorial service. Future details will be forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to one of the following organizations that were close to her heart:
