Joyce Shirley Goding 97, passed away January 03, 2022. She was preceded in death by her son Richard James “Dick” Goding and is survived by her sister, Carol Dickson, Livonia, MI, son, William R. (Bill) Goding of Warne, NC and daughter Peggy Charlton (Gary) of Apopka, FL, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Goding moved to Apopka in 1946 from Detroit, MI. She was a bookkeeper and she enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She loved to sew and quilt, play bridge, bowling and was an avid reader. In later years she loved spending time at the beach.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.

After becoming Pastor at FBC Apopka, I had some delightful visits with Joyce at Wellspring. Although I had to speak loud enough for the whole facility to hear me – it was always a joy to see her.
