Delphia Short Parker
Mount Dora, FL – On Monday, January 3, 2022, Delphia Short Parker passed away at the age of 87. Delphia was born on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1934 to Grant and Etta Short in Springfield, Missouri. She met her husband, Jim Parker, at Drury University and were married on June 5, 1954. They moved many times for Jim’s job, living all over Texas, Kansas City and in 1972 moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida. Jim predeceased her in 2011 when she moved to Waterman Village in Mount Dora.
Delphia is survived by her son Jay Parker and his wife Becky of Apopka, FL and their children Jamie Parker, Kim (Matt) Solitro and Mike (Chelsea) Redmond; her daughter Lisa Carpenter and her husband Scott of Shelburne, VT, and their children Caroline (Eric) Lustgarten, Hayden (Ariella) Carpenter and Reed Carpenter. As well as 5 great-grand children, niece Janet, nephew Jerry (Bobbi), sister-in-law Mary and many cousins and friends.
It was at Waterman Village where she met her dear friend Buzz Turner, who was the light in her life. We are so grateful for the time they had together, the joy he brought our mom and for his family in Mount Dora who were all so welcoming to her.
We want to give special thanks to her caregivers at Waterman, too numerous to list, for the compassionate care they gave her in her final months.
