Mr. William George Savino

William “Bill” Savino loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2022, surrounded by family.  Bill, age 71, was born on July 27, 1950, in Jersey City, NJ and lived in Bergenfield, NJ.  He moved to Orlando, Fl , in 1970 where he  met and married Barbara, his wife of 50+ years, in 1971.

Bill owned and operated a Sunoco gas station for five  (5) years before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served our county for four (4) years.  His military service included a year in Korea before being assigned to White House Communications.  Upon being honorably  discharged from the Army, Bill worked in the  computer industry  out of the Washington DC  area, was transferred to Durham, NC, and then later transferred to the Orlando area.

Bill was a beloved member of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office from December 2007 until June 2015.  He was an Information Technology Specialist  and no issue was too difficult for him to tackle and fix.

Bill had many loves in his life, his wife Barbara, his two sons, Michael and Daniel and his two grandsons, Gavin and Carson.  Although Bill loved working with computers ,his  passion was cars.   His love of cars began when he got his first pedal car for Christmas around the age of 6. He not only liked driving them, he also liked racing them, but also loved building  engines. Racing earned him an official National quarter-mile acceleration record in “O/SA” with the NHRA in 1974. He was also featured in two shows, American Muscle Cars and 101 Cars You Must Drive, both featuring  his 1987 Buick Grand National.

Bill’s passion for cars and computers led to many life lessons for his boys. Teaching them all that he knew and leading by example. He taught the value of fixing first, buying later, hard work and perseverance.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William; and mother Catherine. He is survived by his loving  wife Barbara; his son Michael and wife Tisa; their children Gavin and Carson; his son Daniel and wife Paula; and his sister Kathi.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 30, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Apopka, 441 S. Highland Avenue, Apopka, FL. 32703. The service will be followed by a light reception.
