He was in the United States Military from 1954-1962 and retired from the Sonoco as a millright after 21 years of exceptional service. Don loved to work with his hands and enjoyed taking things apart to see how they worked. He was a millright for over 50 years in the canning business. He enjoyed playing guitar with his brothers and sisters, vacationing in the mountains, Ford Trucks, Flea Markets, and tinkering in his garage. In his later years he enjoyed with his wife spending time and traveling to visit friends and family. Don cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren through the years. After the loss of his spouse Ragnheidur, Don found strength and comfort in the Lord and spoke with him daily. He was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
