James Dale Russell Sr., 79, of Ocoee, Florida passed away on May 22, 2023. Mr. Russell was born on August 15, 1943 to the late C.L. and Veda Russell in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Russel is preceded in death by his loving wife Judy Ann Russell; siblings Joe Russell, Bill Russell, Barbara Clark, Geraldine Russell and Clarence Russell; as well as his grandson James Russell. He is survived by his children Darren and Dana Brown, Bruce and Annie Russell, as well as Rick Russell; siblings Sue Johnson and Wilma McWhirter; grandchildren Brittany, Scot, Tarren, Brandon, Blaze, Trysten, and Cole; great grandchildren Ella, Kellan, Karsonn, Merritt and Emerson; as well as many extended family members. He was funny, loved talking about the oil field, collecting coins, history, westerns, reading and was always there with a helping hand. He will be dearly missed by his many loved ones and friends.

This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.

Grandpa as everyone referred to him was a wonderful man. He was funny and loved his family. The apple of his eye was his granddaughter Brittany. He referred to her as “girl”. We all have wonderful memories of him over the years and I know Minnie is glad to have him back by her side. He also taught my son Scot (Brittany’s husband) many good life lessons and how to fix things, etc. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
God bless you Grandpa – we will miss you. Rest in Peace!!
