Carlos Fernando Cordoba M.D. born January 12, 1932 (story is he was born on January 4th, but his birth certificate says the 12th). Dr. Cordoba was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to New York to finish his medical residency. He later moved to Central Florida where he worked in the Emergency Room at Orange Memorial Hospital and Seminole Memorial Hospital just to name a few. He briefly gave private practice a try with a colleague, but emergency medicine was his true calling. He retired from Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Perry, FL in 2005. He was an incredibly talented artist; he painted many beautiful paintings throughout his life. He loved plants, he has an extensive collection of orchids (some over 40 years old) and anthuriums. Being in the garden with his plants was his favorite place. Many of his paintings are of his two favorite plants. He loved frogs, he has an enormous collection of frog décor. He was almost always in dress pants and dress shoes even when cutting the grass or climbing on the roof. He never owned a pair of jeans or tennis shoes. He loved good food, going out to eat and enjoyed cooking and hosting dinners for family and friends. He always decorated the house for each holiday and Christmas was his absolute favorite. He has a diverse collection of miniature nativity scenes that he keeps out year-round. He was incredibly handy from electrical, plumbing to DIY projects around the house. He was very detail oriented and enjoyed projects that took time and patience. He built several dollhouses for some of his children and grandchildren over the years. He is survived by his five daughters, two sons, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dad left this world on June 9, 2023, at the age of 91 with 2 of his daughters by his side. He will be greatly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. To honor Dad’s memory, we invite you to make a donation to a charity of your choice, in place of sending flowers.
Lea M Cordoba says
I miss you terribly, tomorrow is two weeks since you left this world.
I hope you are at peace.
I hope you are gardening in heaven and making empanadas for everyone.
Until we meet again.
I love you, Dad
