Murray, Joan A. of Manchester, Tennessee passed away Sunday, June 18. Born January 13, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph and Julia (O’Connell) Katzmarski. She moved to Central Tennessee from Apopka, Florida in 2020. She was a member of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Apopka. Joan raised six children, and worked at Camp DeBaun and Nemo’s Army Navy Store in Oceanside, New York. Joan is survived by her daughters Susan Pettingill and Patty Murray of Sweetwater, Tennessee, and Kathy (Charles) Tapia of Oceanside, New York; grandchildren John Jr. (JoAnn) Monk, Amanda (Alex) Cruz, Jason (Heather) Levine, Jennifer (Dan) Higgins, and Thomas Tapia; and great grandchildren Chole Wellner, John III and Justin Monk, and Bruce and Henry Levine. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Thomas P. Murray, daughters Joan Murray and Barbara Levine, son Thomas Murray, son-in-law Lynn Pettingill, and sister Patricia Katzmarski. Visitation and service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Loomis Family Funeral Home, 420 W Main St, Apopka Florida 32712. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org).

This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
