Charlene Marie (Walker) Colter, 86, of Leesburg, Fl entered heaven’s gates February 9, 2024. She was born on February 22, 1937 in Tallahassee, Florida to Charles and Rachel Walker. Charlene was surrounded by her family sharing memories, and thanking God for her.
Charlene was a loving wife and mother and an excellent homemaker. She was blessed with many talents like cooking, baking, and home decor. She loved spending time with all her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charlene’s life was a testimony of dedication to her family, friends, and her Christian faith was of the utmost importance to her. As Charlene’s body began to fail her, the love she had for Jesus remained. Reading her Bible brought light and joy, even in her final days. Charlene created a legacy of selfless love, and deep faith.
She is survived by her husband W. Harmon Colter, her sister Patricia Tillman of Tallahassee FL, son William Colter of Young Harris, GA, son Chuck Colter of Eustis FL, daughter Charlotte Dehlinger of Lilburn, GA, daughter Teresa Freeman of Palm Coast, FL, and 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rachel Walker.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
