Nellie Mae Garris 91 of Sorrento, Florida passed away April 11, 2024 surrounded by her grandkids. Mrs. Garris was born on January 09, 1933 in Immokalee, Florida to the late Bob Waters and Mary Miller. She is Preceded in death by her loving husband John Garris of 71 years and daughter Linda Faye West. She is survived by her son Paul Joseph Garris; grandchildren Robert (Wendy) West, Tonya (Wayne) Parker, Michelle Garris, Johnnie West, Melissa (Mike) Jones, Michael Garris and Josh Garris; 13 great grandchildren as well as 8 great great grandchildren. Nellie Mae and John Garris were married for 71 wonderful years. Nellie Mae was an amazing wife, mother and mamaw. She always greeted everyone with a big smile and a big nice hug. She loved her family dearly. She will be missed by all of her loved ones.

This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
