John Randall Butler, affectionately known as Randy, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the age of 71, in Orlando, Florida. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, to Lewis Adrian Butler, Sr. and Virginia Harris on January 30, 1953. Randy left this world leaving behind a legacy of integrity and a life rich in relationships.
At the age of 7, Randy made the most important decision of his life by accepting Christ as his personal Savior. Until the very end, he was an avid student of the Word of God and he lives today in his eternal home in Heaven.
On February 1, 1974, Randy married the love of his life, Sharon Martinson, and together, they built a family with Christ as the center of their home. Randy was a devoted father to son, Todd, and daughter, Kristen (Marcus) Smith and a loving grandfather to Madison, Drew, Austin, Kalli and Nolan. He is predeceased by his sister Georgenna (Paul), his brothers, Lewis (Marge), Gary (Nanette), Mark (Lynne), David (Lynn), and Bobby, his nieces and nephews and a wide circle of additional family members and friends.
His working career was marked by dedication and excellence as he worked in irrigation sales for over 40 years. He remained friends with many of his co-workers even after his retirement in 2019.
Randy had a few hobbies that he was passionate about. He loved playing on his church’s softball team, watching college football and the Florida Gators. If Randy was not at church, you could be sure to find him watching his children and grandchildren play their sports.
Randy’s life was one of active engagement with his church. His spiritual gift was service. He was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years with his first class teaching 5th grade boys and finishing the race with Senior Adults. He was a faithful and loyal deacon for over 45 years in the churches he served. His most favorite activity was serving in his church’s choir. He sang solos and participated in trios, quartets, drama productions and loved singing in a group called Maranatha.
Randy Butler will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth, wisdom, upbeat personality, and the joy he brought will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be a comfort to all who knew him.

A favorite memory of Randy is when he would lead the choir in a chorus of “I Love You, Lord” before every Christmas and Easter performance. Also, he had a great laugh.
Prayers for you, his family, as you navigate life without him.
