Barbara G. Marquess passed away October 29th at the age of 88. She was born in Murray, Kentucky on June 24, 1934.
Barbara worked many years as a public librarian with Orange County Library System and Ocala Public Library. In the early sixties, she was the first librarian in Apopka and checked out books on the bookmobile. She loved books and working with the public.
She was also a 21-year breast cancer survivor and was an encourager to many as they fought their battle. The last several years she was able to take many trips throughout the country with Best Christian Tours.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Apopka.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Beth (Doug), son, Doug (Tammy), grandchildren, Ryan Vance, Lacie Costello, Cameron Marquess and Dakota Marquess, and sister, Nancy Alexander.
Memorial gifts may be given in her memory to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
