Gregory Howard Heichel, 62, of Apopka, Florida passed away on March 21, 2023. Chief Heichel was born on February 03, 1961 to the late Rupert and Betty Heichel in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his siblings Neil (Lisa) Heichel of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Bill (Lori) Heichel of Gotha, Florida, Barb Heichel of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Carol Heichel of Reading, Pennsylvania; children Tara Heichel and Chloe Heichel; grandchild Christian; nephews Ryan, Jack (Chelsie), Rick (Tabitha), William (Jacquie), Jacob, and Josh as well as niece Julie (Ryan). He retired from the navy as a Chief Boatswain’s Mate. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, friend and loved riding motorcycles. Chief Heichel was a Persian Gulf War Veteran where he served a 20 year career (1981-2002) with the Navy; he visited almost every country that touched water. He will be missed by his many loved ones and friends.

This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
