Your silliness will be missed
There’s no denying this
Along with your hugs and kisses too
And that giggle of yours, as we reminisce about you
Your smile that shined so much with love
As our mom and grandma, who is now high above
We will miss you so much. You are forever loved.
– Jodi Arrowsmith & April Mitchell
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Elaine Roberta Sinclair, died on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Elaine passed away with her two daughters, April and Jodi, by her bedside early that morning. She had been battling dementia over the last few years along with other illnesses. She was 83 years old and resided in Apopka, Florida until summer of 2023. Elaine was the last surviving daughter to Charles Alvia Sinclair and Roberta Hortense Hill Sinclair Thorner. She was a sister to her predeceased siblings, Joyce Slansky, Charlene Barter and Charles Sinclair. She was born in Calais, Maine on November 18, 1940, and moved to Florida in October 1948.
Elaine was the heart and soul of our family, she loved to keep us laughing and will be dearly missed by her family. She raised two (2) daughters, April and Jodi, as a single mom in a loving home in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Elaine leaves behind her daughters, April (Ted) Mitchell, Jodi (Jon) Arrowsmith, her five (5) grandchildren; TJ (Jackie) Mitchell, Heather Mitchell, Cassidy (Riley) Conrad, DJ Arrowsmith, Anabelle Arrowsmith and her three (3) great grandchildren; Summer Mitchell, Levi Conrad and Jake Conrad. She was the “Silly Grandma” (aka Silly G), always doing things that were silly to make them laugh, she enjoyed taking the grandkids to the mall or other outings, she loved her family time, and all of our get togethers.
Elaine was known to be a talker, would do or say silly things, could get a little feisty at times, but always had a kind heart and meant the world to her family. Elaine worked as an Independent Insurance Agent for various companies with over 4 decades of experience. Her colleagues knew her as a kind, sweet soul, always wanting to discuss business along with politics.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mom was so kind to my family when my mom got sick. She was always there asking if she could help and she went out of her way afterwards to check on the family and send cards and make sure everybody was OK and kept my mom‘s memory alive. When I moved downtown to Lake Eola she checked on me and she constantly sent me lovely stories of her time down there to inspire me. She was very kind and thoughtful always! She will be missed greatly! Her kindness to myself and my family will always be remembered. She was a kind beautiful soul.

My condolences to all the family. Elaine and I go back as far as Edgewater high school. We worked together on the Edgewater 50 class reunion with others and also shared office space for many years. She was always positive and fun to be around.

I think of Elaine and feel gratitude for knowing her. She was great company. Cheerful and helpful and intelligent. I miss her. It is comforting to know that she was in the arms of a wonderful family, her most caring daughters in her life especially in those last months and years and now in the arms of God’s angels in Heaven.

I didn’t know until I saw some pictures that Jodi was going through that she posted on Instagram that Elaine had gone to a more peaceful place. She always went to a lot of trouble when my brother and I would visit her then husband, my father, and made sure that we had a good time and had a lot of activities. Always smiling and positive and loving. I’m glad I got to experience That time with her. I remember when first April came along and then Jodi and the absolute joy that she had from her daughters. I loved reading what you wrote and I know you’re all hurting from her being gone. You all are her legacy.
