James Gary Fowler, born on June 3, 1955, in Chipley, Florida, passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 69. A devoted family man, James is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Avila, married since 1988, and their children: James Richard (Katie) Fowler, Joseph Allan (Penny) Fowler, Gary Maxwell Avila (Emma) Fowler, Logan Dean Avila (Jessica) Fowler, and daughter Connie Marie (Johnathan) England. He took immense pride in the legacy of his family, which includes 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
James honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he developed a strong sense of duty that would carry through his career as a firefighter and EMT. He dedicated his life to public service and was known for his unwavering commitment to assisting others.
Throughout his life, James was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting and fishing, and cheering on his Florida Gators. His passion for the outdoors brought him peace and fulfillment and was shared with family and friends alike.
In remembrance of James, a Celebration of life will be held on May 17, 2025, at 1:00pm. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating his life and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
James will be greatly missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he freely shared with all who knew him.
James was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Fowler and mother, Dorothy Clark.
