In Loving Memory of Johnny Ray Wood Sr.
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Johnny Ray Wood Sr., who left us peacefully on January 23, 2025, at the age of 69. Johnny was born on October 26, 1956, in Winter Garden, FL, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a kindness that touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Johnny was the embodiment of warmth and generosity. Whether it was sitting on the porch telling stories, sharing his wisdom with his children, or bringing joy and laughter to his grandchildren, he had a way of making everyone feel like they mattered. His sense of humor and kind heart made him a constant source of comfort and joy to his family and friends. Johnny’s love for his family was boundless, and his presence, a constant reminder of the power of kindness and unconditional love.
He was a proud United States Marine, serving from February 1977 to January 1979. His time in the service shaped him into the strong, resilient, and compassionate man he was, and he often shared fond memories of his time in the Corps. Above all, Johnny was a family man. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was unmatched. His legacy will live on in every story he told, every laugh he shared, and every life he touched.
Johnny is predeceased by his parents, John and Louise Wood. He is survived by his beloved sisters, Evie Wiggins (Lee Wiggins) and Edna Holzworth; his brothers, Quinton Wood and Kenny Wood (Wendy Wood); his children, Amanda Wood, Johnny Wood (Summer Wood), and Brian Wood; his cherished grandchildren, Donovon Wood, Meredith Wood, Emily Ross, Kayla Ross, Linda Ross, Savannah Crisp, Gavin Wood, and Layla Wood; as well as his great-grandson, AJ Lupian.
Johnny's memory will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him. He may no longer be with us, but his spirit will continue to guide us, and his love will remain a part of us, always. His laughter, his wisdom, and his presence will never be forgotten.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on February 23rd, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Winter Garden VFW (1770 E Plant St, Winter Garden, FL 34787). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amanda Wood’s Venmo: AmandaW38.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take solace in knowing Johnny’s light will forever shine in our lives. He was, and always will be, deeply loved.
