Mary "Libby" Elizabeth Dewar

d. September 7, 2017

Comforted by her loving husband, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Dewar went to be with out Savior Jesus Christ on September 7, 2017. All who met and knew Libby, knew she heard the sought-after-words of "Well Done my Good and Faithful Servant" on September 7th. Libby was born in Anthony, Florida on June 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Marvin and Mary Chapman. Libby was the faithful and loving wife of Alex Dewar for over 63 years, their marriage a blessing and to all who met the couple. Whether it was her dedication to tending to the babies in the church nursery or her baking brownies for a family that had a need, those who knew Libby remember that she possessed a caring and giving heart. In particular, she had a very special place in her heart for anyone who had suffered pain or misfortune, irrespective of the circumstance which gave rise to the situation. Libby and Alex met as students at the University of Florida and after marriage in 1954, embarked with him on a tour of duty in the U.S. Army. Later, she used her training in accounting to assist in establishing Dewar Nurseries. In all she accomplished, kindness and love were evident. Libby is survived by her husband Alex Dewar, son Marvin Dewar and wife Bev, son Bill Dewar and his wife Cynthia, daughter Karen Voit and husband David, and her grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart: James, Kevin, Kim,Patricia, Kimberly, Davis and Andrew Dewar, and Lauren and Bailey Voit. Arrangement details are entrusted to Loomis Family Funeral Home, Apopka. Services are on Saturday, September 23 at Lockhart Baptist Church, Edgewater Drive, Orlando, with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m.
