Alvin Richmond Segee was born on October, 14 th , 1934 in the small town of Jewett, Connecticut. He and his older brother and sister moved to Greenville, South Carolina shortly after his birth.
Al joined the Air Force in 1957, and met his wife Roberta on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi. They were married for 63 years. Al and Roberta have a very close family. Son Mike along with his wife Roselyn and son Michael. Daughter Michelle along with her husband Randy and daughters Tiffany, Heather and Emily. He recently welcomed new son-in-law Nate and great-grandson Carter to the family.
Al was a quiet simple man. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Any vacation had to include some or all of his family.
After retirement, the Shrine became an important part of his life. It gave him a new purpose, much happiness, lifelong friendships and ultimately extended his life.
As a member of the Air Force, travel was a big part of his life. Al and his wife Roberta were lucky enough to have had both feet in all 50 states. He was stationed in Mississippi, Maine, South Dakota, Japan, Texas, Taiwan, Oklahoma and finally Florida. When his deployment was in a location the family could not follow, their home base was New Orleans, where Roberta’s parents lived.
If you asked Al what he would most like to be remembered for……I’m sure he would say his family.
