Mr. David F. Dunson

d. July 30, 2013

David F. Dunson, age 72, of Apopka, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Florida Hospital in Winter Park due to complications from a stroke. Born on September 22, 1940 in Haines City, to Robert F. and Devara Dunson. His three brothers, LW, BA, and Jesse Dunson, all preceded him in death.

Dave's utmost passion in life was loving his family. He always made sure that "his three girls"…Anne, Carol, and Mary had all that they needed in life. Not just tangible worldly things, but also character and good values, the tools they draw upon throughout their lives. His great sense of humor was felt by everyone he met. His contagious smile can be seen in almost every photo, he always saw the funny side of things. Dave enjoyed the outdoors and camping trips, especially to the Smoky Mountains with his family. His love for animals was very evident. We are sure he received a very joyful and unconditional love greeting from his favorite dog, Stetson, upon his arrival in Heaven. One of Dave's earliest jobs was a DJ, and ever since, he has always enjoyed the music of the 50s and 60s. Always a shutter bug from childhood, he pursued a career in television broadcasting. Dave was active in his church as a Knight of Columbus, an honorary member of the Council of Catholic Women (the only male member-of which, he was very proud), and volunteered many hours for the Disabilities Committee, youth group, and other programs. Dave was a very generous man and never met a stranger (even the greeters at Wal-Mart knew his face). He could often be seen repeating a joke, hamming it up, or visiting with friends and family.

Mr. Dunson is survived by his loving wife, Anne S. Dunson; children, Carol A. Dunson and Mary D. Mitten, and son in law, Mark J. Mitten; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial celebration of his life will immediately follow services in the Parish Center at St. Francis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita Support, Inc.
