Dean Arthur Stromwall, 88, of Apopka, FL was called home by his Heavenly Father Wednesday, February 17, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born March 19, 1932 to Arthur Stromwall and Valda Schwartz in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Dean served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and provided Civilian Service in air traffic control during the Vietnam War. He had a 35-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller. He was instrumental in helping the FAA survive the Air Traffic Controller strike in 1981. Dean was an avid golfer and was club champion at Errol Country Club multiple times in addition to winning many other golf tournaments. He was proud to have shot his age numerous times and had several holes-in-one. Dean’s faith in Jesus Christ had great significance in his life. He was a member of First Baptist Orlando and enjoyed the fellowship of his many friends there.
Dean is survived by the love of his life and wife of 42 years, Reba; sons Daniel (Debra) of Ocala, FL; Jeffrey (Kamala) of Lakeville, MN; Joel (Debbie) of Torrance, CA; Kip Martin (Corrine) of Puerto Rico; daughter DeAnne Blanchard (David); brother Daniel (Ginny); 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and nephew.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in his name to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to First Baptist Orlando.
A Memorial service will be held in Henry Chapel at First Baptist Orlando on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
