Donald J. Croyle known as “Pinky” to those who knew him well. He was born and raised by loving parents- Bill and Garnett. He had two brothers (Bill and Gary) and one sister (Kay). He loved the south and lived in Forest City/Altamonte Springs for 50 years. He loved his family and his extended family and help and cared for them in any way he could. He had many friends for whom he cared deeply. He served in the U.S. Army- infantry (Korean War) for 4 years. Active and Reserve. He was an avid golfer. He loved to play the many courses thru out Florida and other southern states. He enjoyed hunting small game and deer hunting and that made him a collector of guns. But his love of animals made him a farmer at heart. He always owned many animals, horses, burro, chickens and dogs. At the end of his life, his best friends and companions were his dogs, Cannonball and Boomer. Cannonball died a few months before him and boomer laid sadly by his side 24 hours a day before his death. He graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor’s Degree and earned a Master’s Degree at Rollins College. Formerly he was a Revenue Agent for the State of Florida. He was employed in physical training and sports for Seminole County Schools and ended his work career as an Attendance Officer for the Seminole County Schools. He also belonged to the Lodge Master Mason’s- Armstrong 239, Scottish Rite 32 Mason, Winter Park Lodge Consistory, Shriners – Orlando Chapter, National Riflemen’s Association, American Legion and Florida Sportsmen’s Associations. He was ready to meet his Lord and Savior. He said his work on earth was finished and “he prayed that God would look kindly on him when the Book of Life is read”. This quote was his own words. His family loved him very much and we wish him well on this final journey.
