Donald R. Smith, age 58, of Sorrento, passed away on Thursday, December 05, 2013. He was born on August 15, 1955 in Pontiac, MI to Donald and Millie Smith. He moved to the Central Florida area 23 years ago. Mr. Smith was a Lutheran and served in the US Army. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Smith; children, Bylee and Abigail Smith; sisters, Connie Lynch and Judy Hockins; and two grandchildren.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
