Doyle Wayne “Jake” Jacobs, of Apopka, FL, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at home. He was 79. He was born on December 17, 1937 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Robert Jacobs and Johnnie Lois Campbell. He attended John Sevier in Tennessee and Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio. He married Juanita Wheeler Collins on January 1, 1970 and had four children. Jake worked for the City of Los Angeles – Department of Water and Power, retiring in 1995. Jake became actively involved with the NC Baptist Disaster Relief group through Stewartsville Baptist Church in Laurinburg, NC. Helping Katrina victims, Virginia flood victims, and those in and around NC. Jake never knew a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His wife Juanita survives Jake. Two sons, Rick (Cathy) Collins of Lakeland, FL and Gary (Jody) Collins of Casselberry, FL. Two daughters, Cathy (Dick) Garlitz of Salt Lake City, UT and Deanna (Charles) Eubanks of Apopka, FL. A sister Dorothy DeLong of Prescott, AZ, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many Campbell, Gillentine, and Jacobs cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother Robert Jacobs and brother in law Richard DeLong. A memorial service will be held at Roseberry Baptist Church in Mascot, TN on March 11th at 11am. 2920 Roseberry Road, Mascot, TN 37806. We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses from Florida Hospital and Vitas Hospice for their care and support.
