Edward P. Bowman Jr. (Eddie), 75, of Apopka, Florida passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2023. Eddie was born to Elizabeth and Edward Bowman Sr., on October 1, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Bellevue High School (Class of ’66), served his country with the US Army 173d Airborne Brigade (Vietnam ‘65-68), and graduated from La Roche College (May ’76).
Eddie and family moved to Apopka in the summer of 1987. He found passion in developing and inspiring Apopka’s youth through sports in the ‘90s, both Pop Warner football and Little League baseball. Eddie took great pride in supporting the men and women of the Apopka Fire Department where his son Brian has served for over 23 years. You’d often find Eddie socializing in the community as a regular diner at Liggett’s, Robinson’s, Beef ‘O’ Brady’s and The Back Room.
Eddie’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids. He was their biggest fan at the ball fields. He never missed a game or an opportunity to coach from the sidelines. Later in life you’d find him on his scooter, treating all the kids at the concession stand.
Eddie is survived by his two sons, Adam (Lisa) Bowman and Brian (Holly) Bowman of Apopka; Sister Sandy (Rick) Abbott; Brother Dan (Joanne) Bowman; Grandchildren Bryson, Emmi, Ethan and Hazel Bowman; Nephews Keith Abbott, Ryan and Danny Bowman. Eddie dearly loved his family and cherished every moment he spent with his children, parents, siblings and their families.
Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 19th, Loomis Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Apopka 32712. Viewing will take place just prior from 12-1pm. It was Eddie’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

He was special to my Ed, as Mr. Eddie Bowman served in Vietnam in the same Unit, 173rd Airborne. A gentleman & a good friend. Whenever, we met up with Eddie, he was welcoming & supportive. He will be missed. We are grateful to have shared in his friendship and most importantly, the war stories and experiences shared with my Ed. Vietnam Veterans are a unique group who connected because of the unpopularity of the war. But heheh they spend time together, there is pride for serving their country. God Bless Eddie Bowman’s spirit. Thank you for your service. May his spirit Rest in eternity 🙏🏼

My Deepest Sympathies to the Bowman Family. Eddie was my brother Tim’s friend in High School and Vietnam. He was a funny and sometimes very sarcastic guy, but deep down he had a heart of gold!!! My prayers for all of the family. God bless you all! 🙏🏻🩵🙏🏻🩵🙏🏻
