Eugene Davis Sr., 89, of Apopka, Florida passed away on August 20, 2021. Mr. Davis was born on December 25, 1931 in Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Laura Mae Davis; parents Annie and John Davis; siblings Harry Davis, Donny Davis, Barbara Thomas, John Davis, and Roy Davis; as well as daughters Donna Davis and Sherri Mercer. He is survived by his children Gene Davis Jr., and Sandy Stokes; grandchildren Jennell (Marcus) Vanzant, Heather (Dan) Leone, Tony, Mark, Cody, Lori (Dewayne) Burrell, David (Belinda) Stokes and Shannyn (Jason) Meadows; great grandchildren Zach Vanzant, Tyler Vanzant, Ross Hardy, Erica Hardy, McKenzie Hardy, Saxon Hardy, Daniella Leone, and Davis Leone, Stephen Burrell, Sarah Holmes, Laura Burrell, Luke Burrell, Cooper Meadows, Peyton Meadows, William Stokes and Joshua Stokes; as well as several other great great grandchildren. He will be missed by his many loved ones and friends.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
