PREBENDA, FRANCIS JOSEPH passed away on June 10 surrounded by the loving care of his family and Cornerstone Hospice. He leaves his wife, Ann of 53 years, children, Michael (Shelley), Carolyn and Elizabeth (Dave) Diehl; and 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, David J. Prebenda in 2000. Fran was born in Detroit, MI in 1934, attended the University of Detroit High School, Holy Cross College and received his JD from Notre Dame Law School. He practiced law in the Detroit area for over 40 years and was a member of the Michigan Bar for over 50 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the David Prebenda Memorial Fund, Catholic Central High School, 27225 Wixom Rd., Novi, Michigan 48374.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
