Francis V. Duncan, 95, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017, in Apopka, Florida.
Francis was the son of the late Mabel B. Orner Duncan Farabaugh and Russell Duncan. He was born August 24, 1922, and lived most of his life in Strongstown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Pine Township High School in Heilwood, Pennsylvania.He was self-employed, owning and operating school busses for Penns Manor Area schools for many years. In addition he was a self-employed electrical contractor and at the beginning of his career was employed by Rural Electric in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife moved to Torrance, California, in 1973, where he was employed as a supervisor at Crown Coach Corporation and also transported vehicles for Enterprise Corp. They then moved to Apopka, Florida, in 1979, where he was employed by Jim Walter Homes and General Rental Center, Apopka.
Francis was active with youth in church, with high school student athletics and very active with his children's activities. He was a past-president of the Strongstown Homeowners and was a member of the Allegheny Riverside Association. He had many areas of interest: doing mechanical work on vehicles of all types, construction at his home and for others, and travelling. He was a person of many interests and capabilities.
Francis is survived by his wife of 76 years, Della P. (Fyock) and two children: Dorothy (Edward) Benardo of Torrance, Calif., and Robert (Cathy) of Apopka. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Cara (Jason) Imbs of Winter Springs, Fla.; Kristi (Lorin) Jackley of Apopka; and Ariana (Adam) Walicke of Gilbert, Ariz. and five great grandchildren. In addition, there are his step-siblings Marion Farabaugh (Creps), Ruth Farabaugh (Ryberg), Don Farabaugh, Rose Farabaugh (Taylor) and Tom Farabaugh and his cousin, Mae Hemme of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Francis also is survived by many loving extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger sister, Ellen.
Services to be held January 5, 2018, at Loomis Family Funeral Home, Apopka, Florida. Visitation begins at 11:00, funeral at noon followed by interment at Highland Memory Gardens.
