John R. Plant, 87, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away June 11, 2016. Mr. Plant was born October 09, 1928 in Somerville, MA. He was Heavy Equipment Operator. Mr. Plant served in the Navy, Army and Korean Service and retired from International Union of Operating Engineers Local 4. Mr. Plant is preceded in death by his mother Rose Plant and father John A. Plant. He is survived by his loving wife Helen M. Plant of Eustis; children John Plant, Jr. of Eustis, Deborah Onessimo of Mt. Dora, Stephen Plant of Georgetown, MA, Michael Plant of Medford, MA, Virginia Plant of Eustis; 2 grandsons Sean Onessimo of St. Augustine and Jason Plant of Burlington, MA; 3 great grandchildren Gabriel Onessimo, Tyler Plant, and Addyn Onessimo. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.

Dear Plant family,
I was so very sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. I loved John and his sense of humor, especially when he walked me down the aisle March 1969 for my wedding. He was so kind and handsome, and Helen sang Ava Maria for the wedding. They were always so encouraging, and helpful to me growing up. May your memories give you peace in the sad days.
