L.G. Harper, age 78, of Eustis, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013. Born on December 28, 1934 in Chestnut, LA, he moved to the Central Florida area 75 years ago. Mr. Harper was a member of Christ Community Fellowship and worked as a supervisor in the telecommunications industry.
Mr. Harper is survived by his loving wife, Marvelyn Driggers Harper; children, Patricia (Terrell) New of Tangerine, Tom (Jane) Harper of Plymouth, and Mark (Chris) Harper of Eustis; brother, J R (Ruth) Harper of Apopka; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.
