Melvin Arnold Atkins, 74, of Orlando, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014. He was born April 01, 1940 in Bridgewater, VA. He was a Manager in the Hardware industry and a Veteran of the USMC. Mr. Atkins is survived by his loving wife, Roxanne Felty Atkins; children, Michael Atkins, Timothy Atkins, Leann Atkins and Jennifer Atkins; siblings, Carlos Atkins, Wayne Atkins and Woody Atkins, Jackie Botkin and Twyla Heatwole; grandchildren, Michael Arnold Atkins, Steven Atkins and Jacob Sexton.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.

I am so sadden that I just found out about the parting of one of my first and greatest managers I ever had. He took me at 17 years old and groomed me into what I became. I am everything I am because of him and Judy Davis and Scotty's. At 17 1/2 to 18 years old he trusted me to teach me bookkeeping and 30 years later I still excel at that career.
