Mikel Steven Crisp, 70, of Apopka, Florida, passed away at home on September 3, 2019 with his wife, children, and sister by his side. Mike was born on September 2, 1949 in Maryville, Tennessee. When he was 10, Mike’s family relocated to Orlando where they joined First Baptist Church of Pine Hills. Mike graduated from Maynard Evans High School in 1967 and married his sweetheart, Julie, in December 1969. From March 1969 to March 1975, Mike proudly served his country as a US Navy SeaBee. His tours of duty included Vietnam and Puerto Rico. For 42 years, he worked as a telephone repairman, lineman, and service technician for Southern Bell/Bell South/AT&T. Mike served his church as a third grade Sunday School teacher and as a deacon. Mike’s favorite pastime was riding his motorcycle.
Mike is survived by his cherished wife of 49 years, Julie Crisp; children Andrea (Ken) Bowles and Joey Crisp; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister Cynthia (Wayne) Greenhill; numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for family and friends to honor Mikel Steven Crisp on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Starke Lake Baptist Church in Ocoee, Florida. He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
