Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend Paul Ronald Fannin, broke his earthly bonds and entered heaven on April 13, 2021. Paul was born on December 24, 1946 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Emery J. and Martha Pelfry Fannin. He arrived on Christmas Eve just in time to be the best Christmas gift of all for his family.
He spent his early childhood years in Parkersburg, West Virginia and Bluffton, Indiana. In his teens his family moved to McKeesport, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School. Paul attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and earned a B.S. in Business. In his final semester at Marshall he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Booth Fannin. After his graduation, they returned to McKeesport to begin their family life. Paul began his retail career with Sears. He continued retail with Walt Disney World, Marriott Great America in Illinois and Six Flag’s Stars Hall of Fame in Orlando. He and his wife began a sales merchandise business, Paul Fannin & Associates that thrived for 25 years.
Paul is survived by Doris Booth Fannin his beloved wife of 52 years. He is also survived by cherished daughter Jennifer Fannin Acree (Richard) of Longwood, Florida and cherished son Mark Evan Fannin of Marietta, Georgia. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Hannah, Coleson & Chloe Acree and Mattie & Chance Fannin, all whom he adored. He is also survived by his dearest sister Kathryn Fannin Knight (Robert,) loved brothers in law and sisters in law and numerous nieces & nephews and many dear friends including former daughter in law Kelly Karlson Fannin. Paul was a lifelong Christian and a member of Conway United Methodist Church, Pine Castle United Methodist Church and recently began attending Journey Christian Church in Apopka. He also was a member of Moose International.
Paul was an avid pool player, teacher and coached many students. He was a certified advanced pool instructor and a member of the PBIA (Professional Billiards Instruction Assoc.) and ACS (American Cue Sports.) Paul loved the game of pool. Although he was often the master of the game, he was forever the student at the table. Paul’s love of pool was superseded only by his love of the Lord and his family. He spent many hours in the pool halls mixing his love of Jesus with his love of the game. He often witnessed his faith to anyone willing to listen earning the nickname “Preacher Paul.” Preacher Paul’s knowledge and passion for pool was only exceeded by his love and friendship and dedication to the elevation of every ones game. We are thrilled to know he is now racking them up on the “big table.”
There will be a “Celebration of Life” service in his honor at Loomis Funeral Home at 420 W. Main Street Apopka, Florida 32712 on Saturday, April 24 at 2pm. If you wish to help with growing medical and added expenses, in lieu of flowers, donations directly to his widow Doris Fannin are very welcome and would be greatly appreciated.
