Raymond Lee Starr, 83, was born on October 05, 1933 to Chauncey Starr and Carrie Arnold-Starr in Topeka, Kansas. He was the youngest of his siblings, which consisted of his three sister Ednae, Irena, and Grace as well as his two brothers, Elmer and Wayne. Growing up they had a family farm while his father worked as a Blacksmith and a Sheet Metal Fabricator. Mr. Starr attended and graduated from Junction City High School, Class of 1951, in Junction City, Kansas. In 1952 he attended the Navy, and went to San Diego, California for Boot Camp. Soon after Mr. Starr was assigned to the USS Randolph (CV-15), which operated in the Atlantic and Caribbean Oceans. During this time he was also stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He ended his Navy Service at the Jacksonville Naval Station in 1956. In 1955 Mr. Starr met his wife Mary Lou Watts-Starr. Soon afterwards, on November 18, 1955 they were married. For a year they lived in St. Augustine, Florida as well as in Crescent City, Florida, where he operated a Laundry Route and also assembled boats at a plant on Lake Crescent. In 1958 Mr. Starr was hired by Martin Marietta, which brought the family to move to Orlando, Florida. In 1960 he was able to purchase a new home in Lockhart, Florida, which is where he had lived until present day. Mr. Starr also had two sons, Michael Starr, who was born June 24, 1960, as well as Kevin Starr who was born April 30, 1964. For a couple of years he worked at Martin Marietta, followed by employment at the Kennedy Space Center, Bendix, RCA, and CSR Ratheon until his retirement. Afterwards he was involved in the Apollo Space Program, The Eastern Down Range Missile Test Projects and SkyLab. The latter part of his employment was spent repairing and assembling radar and tracking equipment at the Kennedy Space Center, Patrick AFB, and the Caribbean to the South Atlantic Island (Ascension Island). He loved fishing and going to the beach as his hobbys. Mr. Starr was always helping his neighbors and friends alike. He will be missed.
