Rene C. Gosselin, Jr., 71, of Apopka, passed away Wednesday, December 03, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. After completing a tour in the Navy, Rene returned to RI to work at the Providence GE plant, while also earning his degree from Roger Williams College. He and a friend later developed a thriving business, Ocean State Thermotics, producers of heating elements. Fortunate to retire early, Rene settled in Apopka, where he found great joy in the people and surroundings of the Errol Estate community. He was especially proud of the beautification projects that were completed during the several terms he served as the President of the EEPOA. Rene is survived by his wife, Roberta Gosselin; children, Laurene Kirk, Tina Gosselin; stepchildren, Jason Gronlund, Kirsten Gronlund, brothers, Paul Gosselin, Chris Gosselin and David Gosselin; sisters, Mary Brown and Janet Peltier; grandchildren Nathan Kirk and Brandon Kirk. Rene was preceded in death by his stepson, Bjorn Gronlund; brothers, Robert Gosselin and Peter Gosselin.
This heritage started 67 years ago with Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, who founded the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1934. In 1938 Francis E. Loomis, son of Pastor Herbert F. Loomis, received his license to practice Mortuary Science and in 1941 established Loomis Funeral Home of Winter Garden, FL.

Today is a sad day. Brite Electric Air Conditioning & Heating has lost one of it’s own. In business for 35 years and this is a first for us. We are heartbroken. We’ll miss you dear friend. You were a definite access to our company, we appreciated everything you did while you were here. Our hearts go out to your family as they will have to carry on behind you. I always knew you would take care of things needed around here. I didn’t even have to ask. PS: Rene the calendars are late getting out this year. I know you wouldn’t have ever let that happen. Rene was a great leader and supporter of Errol Estate. He worked tirelessly to make sure all suggestions, recomendations, and complaints were recognized. He was committted to Errol and the entire commummunity. He will be missed in many ways.
