Richard Alan Andrews, Sr., 73, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 21, 2020. He was born August 18, 1947, in New Haven, Connecticut to Evelyn Simon Andrews and J.C. Andrews, Sr., both of whom predeceased him. His family moved to Central Florida in 1952. Rick was a student at both Apopka High and Evans High School, graduating in 1966. Rick was a skilled crafts-man and owned Richard Andrews Carpentry for over 40 years. He loved to visit with friends, fish, travel and work in his shop as well as spend time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a lifelong Florida Gator fan, nicknamed “Gator Rick” and also a former member of the Central Florida Gator Club. He is deeply mourned by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Hubbard Andrews, his three children: Tim (April) Bennett, Richard Alan (Bridget) Andrews, Jr. and Tami (David) Vargas, and his brother J.C. (Arlyce) Andrews Jr. Rick’s nine grandchildren: Tyler, Adam, Garrett, Matthew, Zachary, Savannah, Makenzi, Noah and Eden were the sun, moon, and stars in his life. So were his two newborn great grandchildren, twin boys, Liam and Thatcher, who he was anxiously awaiting to meet. For years you could find him at local restaurants, like Chuck’s Wagon, enjoying coffee with his friends and all who knew him. Rick was a familiar face in Apopka who always took the time to stop and ask how you were doing. A caring and kind-hearted person, he was willing to do anything for anyone. Rick’s friendly smile and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. All are welcome to attend a celebration of life memorial service to be held on Monday November 30, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Loomis Funeral Home located at 420 W Main St Apopka, FL 32712.
