Robert Earl Sanders went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2022, with his family members by his side at just two weeks shy of 94.
Robert was born on November 8, 1928, in Ashford Alabama to Foster and Nealy Sanders. As a young teenager, Robert moved to central Florida to work and send money back to his family in Alabama.
He went into the military in 1952, Robert enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan. After being honorably discharged, Robert joined the construction industry as a General Superintendent for Eugene W. Kelsey and McCully Construction. Robert built many churches throughout Central Florida including his home church, the original Lockhart Baptist in Lockhart, Florida. He married Merle C. Sanders on May 24, 1952, and was blessed with two children, Bobby, and Debbie.
Robert lived life to the fullest, and he loved big. His laugh and smile were contagious. Robert never knew a stranger, he could talk to anyone and made friends wherever he went. He had a deep faith and love for the Lord. Robert had a caring heart for others, helping anyone in need. He was everyone’s favorite handyman, fixing and building almost anything. He loved gardening and sharing his produce with his many friends.
Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He was survived by his wife, Merle; children, Bobby and his wife Jessica and Debbie and her husband Brian; grandchildren, Amanda and Jay Merrill, Della, Mark, Summer and Luke Fields, Mathew Bolduc, and Elizabeth and Jason Aufmuth.
