Aunt Marilyn and Family,I just want to say how truly sorry I am for the sadness and heartbreak you are all feeling and I wish there was something I could do to help. I am thankful Uncle Bob is out of pain and suffering. He was so courageous throughout his illness and he is at peace and enjoying the rewards or faith promises.. I am sure Uncle Bob and my dad are enjoying a cigar as they watch over us. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Colleen

The world has lost a very great man today. Robert "Bob" Francis Holmes was a man of love, strength and family values. He was a kind, gentle and soft spoken man who earned the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him. He and his loving wife, Marilyn Hughes Holmes, lost their fist child, John, at the age of 1 and raised seven children to be honorable adults who married honorable spouses, all of whom have continued Bob and Marilyn's legacy of love and values, always putting family first, standing by each other in times of struggle and celebration. I am deeply grateful that I have had the privilege to know Bob and Marilyn as parents, grandparents and friends, and to be welcomed into their family as family. My dear sweet cousin, Tara Tucker Holmes, has been a devoted wife to their son, Michael Holmes, a loving mother to their grandsons, Michael Wayne Tucker Holmes and Garrett Holmes, and a daughter (not just an in-law) to Bob and Marilyn most of her life. Tara has the most generous heart of anyone I know. By God's Grace, Bob and Marilyn, along with the rest of their family, have been the beneficiaries of Tara's selfless giving. I personally love the Holmes family as if they are my own, and the loss of Pops is keenly felt by everyone who knew this giant of a man. He is free now and at peace. Thank God for the small miracles in life. They are the most precious.
