Roy Dean Bridell (78) was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 24, 2013
He was born July 8, 1934, in Blowers Township, Minnesota, son of the late Earl Dean and Nina Phillips Bridell. After serving in the United States Air Force for 22 years, Roy received his Bachelors Degree in Sacred Music from The Baptist College of Florida, and a Masters Degree in Psychology from Liberty University. Roy’s love for the Lord and music was evident during his ministry. He continually served in the music ministry in many churches until 2011. Roy served in churches in Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, the Philippines, Taiwan and the Azores. He also served as a psychologist in the mental health field for several years. His retirement years included volunteering with the Florida Campers on Mission, teaching music and psychology at Yellowstone Baptist College, in Billings, MT serving as a member of the Mission Service Corp of the Southern Baptist Convention, and at the LifeWay Conference Center, Ridgecrest, NC. Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Eleanor Sampson Bridell; four children: Karen Goza (Kevin) of Apopka, Florida; Sharon Edwards (Martin) of Potomac Falls, Virginia; Joy Bruce (Jon) of Bradenton, Florida; and Douglas Bridell (Angel) of Salem, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren: Michael, Megan, Matthew, Keith, Kimberly, Benjamin and Christina; one great granddaughter, Grayce; five brothers: Donald Bridell, Larry Bridell (Susie), Durwood Bridell (Marsha), Ray Bridell (Brenda) and Kenneth Bridell; four sisters: Delores Hamblin, Leone Kubiszewski, Alice Larson (Bernie) and Arlyis Kerr (Richard); many nieces and nephews; and one brother-in-law, Walter Sampson (Janis). He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Madelyn Allen. Roy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Lions Club, the Air Force Sergeants Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, and the Florida and Alabama Baptist Singing Men. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your church, Hospice of the Comforter, or favorite charity.
